Four successful NRCEN Workshops & Conferences have resulted in:

  • increased professionalism among E&O personnel in Centers
  • better communication among E&O personnel
  • minimized duplication of effort
  • stronger and more frequent partnerships across disciplines
  • increased ability to attract supplemental funding from other source

The 2005 workshop intended to build on NRCEN Core Goals and progress from the first three workshops. Workshop organizers incorporated the concerns and needs of previous participants while focusing on time-tested but innovative ways to achieve broader impact through collaboration.

The focus for the 2004 NRCEN meeting was on how to make the most of partnerships, both across the learning continuum and with other similar NSF programs.

Visions and Voices: Educational Leadership in the Research Center Environment

 

The workshop included complex topics specific to Centers that cover a range of educational levels and activities with a focus on determining how this influential group of educators can collaborate to increase their impact.

1st Workshop: Cornell University,

NSF Research Centers: Partners in SMET Education

 

Representatives from three NSF research center programs met to discuss the future direction of their education programs. Representatives from the Engineering Research Centers (ERC), Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers (MRSEC), and Science and Technology Centers (STC) collaborated in creating the concept and implementation of this national workshop.
